I and My Chimney

Inspired by the short story of I and My Chimney by Herman Melville, this model represents a giant chimney centrally located in the mansion of an old couple. In the story, the wife is unhappy with the chimney. As she argues for it to be torn down because of its impractically taking up space, her husband vouches for it to stay. In my model I wanted the central location of the chimney to remain, however, by not completely surrounding the chimney within the mansion it creates the illusion that it isn't taking up much of the interior space.
